Summary: An unfinished movie because it's based on a series of book by Lemony Snicket, a man as mysterious as his books and movie. The unfortunate events are the death of the Bardelaire children's Klaus (Liam Aiken, Violet (Emily Browning), and Sunny (Kara and Shelby Hoffman) parent and their guardian after Count Olaf. He tell the stories of the Bardelaire children facing off against Count Olaf (Jim Carry) for the family fortune. Lemony Snicket express the now miserable life of the Baudelaire ("A Series of Unfortunate Events Book 1-3)meaning there is no happy ending, but the ending of the movie tell the different story. When the children receive the "spyglass" in the mail. The letter with the envelope contains regret, hope, and discover of how no matter what happen to your parent they will always still love their children. I know this girl who didn't show affection to her father mostly she was embarrass, but I am absolutely sure that he still love her. That message hit close to home for with me alone in this dorm facing the fact that I might have TV or at least sound to comfort me. The "spyglass" represent the passing of the torch which is meaningful toward the Baudelaire children. Quoting Lemony Snicket, "Dear reader, there are people in the world who know no misery and woe. And they take comfort in cheerful films about twittering birds and giggling elves. There are people who know that there's always a mystery to be solved. And they take comfort in researching and writing down any important evidence. But this story is not about such people. This story is about the Baudelaires. And they are the sort of people who know that there's always something. Something to invent, something to read, something to bite, and something to do, to make a sanctuary, no matter how small. And for this reason, I am happy to say, the Baudelaires were very fortunate indeed," THE END no "?". (1)
Hidden Message: We can learn that we can use our special talents to do something incredible which beg the question what is your talent you can do that no else can do? We are very fortunate to have family, friends, and anything or anyone that make you happy. Despite any unfortunate event if you have something or someone that make you happy you can never be alone or miserable.
Review: It is unfortunate that they didn't continue the movie, probably before the series of book were completed but I still agree on finishing what they started. Why is that his the possible film franchise from Wikipedia,
"For a half-decade there were occasional public statements about a sequel to the film.
Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies hoped the film would become a franchise like the Harry Potter film series. Jim Carrey thought his character would be good as the basis for a film franchise since it would allow him to dive into a new role. "I don't have a deal [for a sequel], but it's one that I wouldn't mind doing again because there are so many characters," the actor explained in December 2004. "I mean, it's just so much fun. It's so much fun being a bad actor playing a character..." In May 2005, producer Laurie MacDonald said "Lemony Snicket is still something Paramount is interested in pursuing and we're going to be talking with them more."
In October 2008, Daniel Handler said that "a sequel does seem to be in the works. Paramount has had quite a few corporate shakeups, ...which has led to many a delay. Of course, many, many plans in Hollywood come to naught, but I'm assured that another film will be made. Someday. Perhaps." In June 2009, Silberling confirmed he still talked about the project with Handler, and suggested the sequel be a stop motion film because the lead actors have grown too old. "In an odd way, the best thing you could do is actually have Lemony Snicket say to the audience, 'Okay, we pawned the first film off as a mere dramatization with actors. Now I'm afraid I’m going to have to show you the real thing.'" As of 2013, there is no status on sequel." The only fortunate part of the movie is the mysterious ending where Lemony Snicket's final thoughts were (1) while I guarantee you will cry. Ques. What will happen to the Bardelaire children at "The End?"
